HYPNO REBETIKO the blues from Greece – Crash Normal solo project (Born Bad Rec / Kill Shaman rec)
\”Crash Normal explores the soul of underground greek music in its new project \”Hypno Rebetiko\”. Although this style is known to all Greeks today, it is not nearly as popular in the rest of the world as it is for the American blues for exemple, which is very close to REBETIKO in many ways. Rebetiko is a term used today to refer to originally disparate kinds of urban Greek folk music which have come to be grouped together since the so-called rebetika revival, which started in the 1960s. Rebetika, an often raw and uncompromising music, was simply not allowed into Greek recording studios in its genuine forms until 1931. I\’m here to celebrate the music of the outlaws, the pot smokers, the jailbirds and the gamblers but also those who would be able to spend 15 years in prison just for the love of someone.\”

Songs not very long – rarely more than two minutes -, with political titles, and a sound that oscillates between post-punk, weird kraut and deviant country.
