Chroma è lieta di presentare “LAG”, la nuova mostra personale di DesX, artista nato a L’Aquila e attivo a Roma, una delle figure più interessanti della scena italiana. DesX si distingue per un linguaggio che unisce street art e pittura a olio, creando un equilibrio unico tra il dinamismo urbano e la tradizione pittorica. La sua arte, fortemente figurativa e caratterizzata da una resa pittorica intensa, si muove tra il realismo e l’interpretazione visionaria, dando vita a immagini potenti e suggestive.

In “LAG”, DesX esplora il concetto di latenza temporale, ispirandosi al fenomeno del lag nei videogiochi: quel ritardo tra l’azione e la sua manifestazione, tra il gesto e la risposta. Le opere in mostra riflettono su questa sospensione del tempo, traducendola in immagini che sembrano congelate tra due momenti, tra il passato e il futuro, tra ciò che si percepisce e ciò che realmente accade.

Attraverso pennellate lisce e precise, DesX crea una superficie pittorica che evoca un tempo virtuale a due dimensioni, come se l’immagine fosse sospesa in uno spazio digitale privo di profondità. La fusione tra tecniche urbane e pittura classica dà vita a un’estetica in bilico tra tradizione e innovazione, tra velocità e sospensione, tra il mondo reale e la sua trasposizione visiva rallentata.

Le opere realizzate per questa mostra sono ispirate al patrimonio storico internazionale, reinterpretando capolavori come le opere dei maestri fiamminghi o la celebre “Ragazza con l’orecchino di perla” di Vermeer, trasformandole in chiave moderna. In questi lavori, il tempo è completamente annullato: le figure iconiche della storia dell’arte vengono teletrasportate nel nostro presente, immerse nel mondo contemporaneo come se fossero state estratte dal loro contesto originale e ricollocate in una nuova realtà. Le immagini sono sospese in un limbo atemporale, dove il classico e il moderno convivono in una dimensione parallela.

L’inaugurazione si terrà il sabato 22 marzo, in presenza dell’artista. Un’opportunità per esplorare il suo universo creativo e immergersi nelle sue riflessioni sul tempo e sulla percezione. La mostra sarà visitabile fino al 10 maggio 2025.

Chroma is pleased to present “LAG,” the new solo exhibition of DesX, an artist born in Aquila and active in Rome, one of the most interesting figures on the Italian scene. DesX is distinguished by a language that combines street art and oil painting, creating a unique balance between urban dynamism and pictorial tradition. His art, strongly figurative and characterized by an intense pictorial rendering, moves between realism and visionary interpretation, resulting in powerful and evocative images.

In “LAG,” DesX explores the concept of temporal latency, drawing inspiration from the phenomenon of lag in video games: that delay between action and its manifestation, between gesture and response. The works in the exhibition reflect on this suspension of time, translating it into images that seem frozen between two moments, between the past and the future, between what is perceived and what actually happens.

Through smooth and precise brushstrokes, DesX creates a pictorial surface that evokes a two-dimensional virtual time, as if the image were suspended in a digital space devoid of depth. The fusion of urban techniques and classical painting gives rise to an aesthetic poised between tradition and innovation, between speed and suspension, between the real world and its slowed-down visual transposition.

The works created for this exhibition are inspired by the international historical heritage, reinterpreting masterpieces such as the works of the Flemish masters or Vermeer’s famous “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and transforming them in a modern key. In these works, time is completely annulled: iconic figures from art history are teleported into our present, immersed in the contemporary world as if they had been extracted from their original context and relocated into a new reality. The images are suspended ina timeless limbo, where the classical and the modern coexist in a parallel dimension.

The opening will be held on Saturday, March 22, in the presence of the artist. An opportunity to explore his creative universe and immerse oneself in his reflections on time and perception. The exhibition will be on view until May 10, 2025.
